I travel a fair amount for work and while I love my job, I really don’t enjoy being away from home. My wife will often hide little notes in my suitcase that I find when I unpack at the hotel. It really makes me feel like a million bucks that she went to the effort to write a special note of encouragement. Sometimes it’s as simple as a sticky note saying ‘Thanks for working so hard for the family.’ Sometimes it’s a store bought card with a funny or romantic message. Regardless, it makes being away from home a whole lot easier. I have returned the favor to her on a number of occasions but she is far better at it than I am.
But… I just saw a great little twist on this whole idea. Here’s how it works. The next time you have to travel, reverse things a little by buying your sweetie a card and writing something special about how you hate to be away from her and can’t wait to get back home. Now drop it into the mail so she gets it the day after you leave. Wow! Imagine the welcome home you are likely to get. It takes just a minute but boy does it lets her know how much you love her.
